ECTEL describe their 10th Anniversary as a ‘milestone’
The Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) is describing their 10th anniversary as a milestone in the development of technology in the Caribbean.
ECTEL hosted a forum at the Fort Young Hotel yesterday, as part of activities marking their 10th anniversary.
Director of Technical Services at ECTEL, Mr. Sylvester Vital said that a number of other activities are scheduled to observe their anniversary, including a recognition ceremony.
The forum was designed to provide regulators from across the Caribbean with an opportunity to explore issues that are pertinent to the regulation of the Telecommunications sector and Information and Communications Technology (ITC).
Minister of Information, Telecommunications and Constituency Empowerment, Honorable Ambrose George said that the forum was in keeping with ECTEL’s mission to create a fully liberalized Telecommunications environment, by promoting competition amongst service providers.
ECTEL was established in May of 2000 in Grenada after five OECS Ministers signed a treaty.
