Education Minister says Education System is Working
Dominica’s Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Honourable Petter Saint-Jean has once again praised the Labour Party Government for what he considers to be a working education system.
According to the Minister, over the last decade the number of Dominicans who are earning Bachelor’s degrees has more than doubled and the number of Dominicans who are earning Associate degrees has multiplied more than ten folds due to Dominicans electing a Government with a policy to invest more into education.
He said when the citizens collectively decided in 2000, to stride boldly into the 21st century, more than ten years later, there is clear statistical evidence that the Dominican people have embraced the education and higher learning opportunities.
Honourable Saint-Jean says statistic shows that between 2001 and 2011 there has been a 130.6% increase in the number of Dominicans attaining Bachelor’s degrees.
“There have also been significant increases in education attainment at the highest level – Master’s Degree and above.”
Data also indicates that between 2001 and 2011 there has been a 28.5% increase in Dominicans attaining GCE or CXC certificates and a whopping 972.5% increase in those attaining Associate Degrees.
He added, this Government spares no effort at cooperating with friendly entities abroad in order to radically upgrade the education and training of Dominicans.
