Eleven nursing students receive their pins
The faculty of Health Sciences at the Dominica State College (DSC) held its fourth pinning ceremony on March 28th, 2011, at the Dominica Public Service Union building.
Eleven former nursing students who pursued the certificate in the practical nursing programme received their nursing pins at Monday’s ceremony.
Lecturer at the faculty of health sciences, Mrs Rosie Felix says that the pin distinguishes their educational achievement and is normally worn with their nursing uniform indicating that they have attained this educational award.
According to her, the ceremony marks the official transition from being a student nurse to being nursing practitioners.
Dean at the faculty of health sciences, Mrs Denise Edwards outlined some of the critical areas covered by the students, during the 15-month programme.
Motivational speaker at Monday’s ceremony, Mrs Helen Royer advised the students to strive for excellence at all times, since they are now part of one of the many noble profession.
The eleven students are Rosemary Balson, Shanillia Bruno, Eliza Francis, Marilyn James, Aurellia Lucien, Orella Pascal, Bernie Paul, Vanesca Toussaint-Sorhaindo, Joan Stoddard, Kerisha Thomas and Courtney Vidal.
They are all expected to graduate in October 2011.
