Employers called upon to educate themselves on the Labour Laws
Employers are being called upon to educate themselves on the various labour laws governing the affairs of workers on the island.
That call was made the president of the Waterfront and Allied Workers Union (WAWU), Mr Kertist Augustus, just a day after WAWU held its 16th biennial delegates conference and 44th annual general meeting.
This year WAWU held its delegates conference under the theme, ‘respect for trade unions – strengthening workers unity and solidarity.’
History was also created at the annual general meeting, after the entire executive was reelected unopposed.
The president pointed out that while there were many challenges, the union recorded several successful negotiations.
