European Day is recognized by Dominican authority

EUROPEAN-DAY.jpgThe Office of the National Authorising Officer for the European Development Fund and The Waitukubuli National Trail held the final competition for their secondary school competition in recognition of Europe Day.

Europe Day is an occasion for activities and festivities that bring Europe closer to its citizens and peoples of the union closer to one another.

The office of the National Authorising Officer for the European Development fund highlighted the contribution that the European Union has made towards the overall development of the commonwealth of Dominica.

The competition called for the presentation of business proposals under the theme “Innovative Business Opportunities along the Waitukubuli National Trail – Discover Nature for Heritage Development.”

The Dominica Grammar School won with their proposal entitled ‘The Waitukubuli National Trail Multi-Faceted Tour Packages with Accommodation for both Tourists and Locals.

The Sisserou’s Perch Restaurant and Camping Site by the Convent High School placed second which was closely followed by the Community High School’s Crystal Clear Spa Bed and Breakfast.

‘The Waitukubuli National Trail: Trail Challenge, another submission by the Convent High School placed fourth.

Miss Roberts went noted the benefits of the partnership between Dominica and the European Union at the awards ceremony.

The European Union, a key development partner of Dominica continues to support our country’s socio economic development, evidenced by the over twenty-three million Euros in grant funding to be received for the development of critical sectors including Agriculture, Tourism, Geothermal Energy, Water and Health.
