Family home at the Carib Territory totally consumed by fire
A single father from a north eastern community is saddened by the loss of his home, which was totally consumed by fire, last week.
Lloyd Paris of Bataca, Carib Territory says he was attending to his garden on Thursday, February 3rd, 2011, when his son brought the unfortunate news, that his two bedroom house had been totally engulfed by flames.
According to villagers, it was pointless to call the fire and ambulance services department, who would have to travel all the way from Marigot to attend to the fire.
Although neighbors tried relentlessly to save the house, the wooden structure was consumed in little time.
Mr Paris says he is now seeking assistance from corporate donors, to rebuild the house, which was being occupied by him and his two sons.
He says the lesson to be learnt from such a predicament is that ‘children should not play with fire’.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution in cash or kind to the family of three may call the telephone number 6170980.
