Festival Committee contunes WCMF Preperations

At the (DFC) Dominica Festivals Committee’s Press Conference, held today, October 9th, representative from Josephine Gabriel and Company Limited, Mr. Gerald George, spoke of Independence activities, including Friday Dwivye’ and hot spots.

He also announced the winner of this week’s season tickets, Mr. Harris Charles of Independence Street, in Heineken’s Creole Festival Season Ticket Promotion.

According to Director General of the Dominica Red Cross, Mrs. Kathleen Pinard Byrne, the influx of persons, expected to visit the country, to join in the celebration of the Island’s 35th anniversary of Independence, may pose a risk for the spread of H1N1 also known as Swine Flu.

Do not forget to dispose of waste as the virus is known to linger.

A representative of the Environmental Health Department also spoke on food safety and regulations, including; securing a food handlers I.D and practicing proper food preparation.

At the press conference, Shervanni Brian, a trivia contest winner, received two nightly tickets to the (WCMF) World Creole Music Festival.

Today, patrons of the WCMF were given yet another opportunity, to purchase season tickets from 11a.m till 4.p.m, at the Arawak House of Culture’s Box Office, in an effort to accommodate the large number of supporters.

The WCMF will showcase 10 musical genres including, Bouyon, Zouk and Kompa.

The DFC is expected travel to the North of Dominica, on Friday October 11th, at 1.p.m, and will head for Memory Lane in Portsmouth.
