Financial Intelligence Unit Senior Financial Investigator attacked at his home

Senior Financial Investigator at the Financial Intelligence Unit, Corporal Patrick George is describing a recent attack on his life, as a ‘wake up call’, saying that he will not be detracted by the perpetrators.

During the early hours of Sunday morning, January 23rd, Corporal George and his family were attacked at his residence in river estate, after perpetrators attempted to set his home on fire, using fire bombs.

He says a total of three cocktails were sent into the house through the front door and side window, setting his living room and television set ablaze.

But luckily, he was able to scare the assailants by firing nine shots at regular intervals.

George says while the tragedy proved to be frightening to his girlfriend and four year old daughter, who witnessed the incident, he stands ready to defend himself in the event of a reoccurrence.

He says he believes that the incident is linked to the work that he does at the financial intelligence unit.

While the damages can be considered minimal, yet costly, George is thankful that his family is safe.

George, who also had some words of advice for the perpetrators, says since the incident, he has also received tremendous support from friends, family and colleagues.

George believes that the tragedy highlighted the need for the general public to collaborate with law enforcement agencies, in providing valuable information about the persons who are responsible for such crimes.

Based on the findings of ongoing investigations, a pail containing some ten cocktails as well as a cigarette lighter was found under the house.
