Former National Footballer Donates to DFA
Former National Footballer, Mr. George Carrington has donated 8 full referee kits in addition to 20 track suits to the DFA – Dominica Football Association on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Football House in Bath Estate.
Mr. Carrington said this donation is something he always wanted to and is urging former national players like himself, to give back to the sport no matter how small the donation.
“I am very proud to do what I am doing because I am giving back. Let’s put it this way, I made a lot of money playing soccer in Canada I am now giving back something,” he said.
Mr. Neron Williams, President of the Dominica Referees Association welcomed the donation.
“Often times, the referees who do a critical part of the game, are most times left out but it is very heartwarming to see that Mr. Carrington didn’t leave us out this time” he celebrated.
Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer of the DFA, Mr. Gerald George said the track suits will come in handy, when Dominica hosts the Windward Island’s Tournament in April 2014, in honour of the deceased senior coach and player who passed on last year.
Treasurer of the DFA, Mr. Philip White added, Mr. Carrington has aided tremendously towards football on the Island and continues to do so.
