Free Cancer Scanning For Women

Cancer-screening.jpgA call has been sounded for women throughout the country, to attend a free breast cancer screening exercise which will take place on Friday April 20th at the Roseau Health Centre from 1pm to 7pm.

This call came from Public Relations Officer of the Dominica Cancer Society Ms. Kathleen Cornelius, who says women need to know that, early detection is always the best policy when it comes to breast cancer, which has proven to save lives.

Ms. Cornelius stated that the best way to beat cancer is early detection, so screening on a regular basis is very important.

She said that although mammograms are done at the age of 40, there are a number or young persons developing breast cancer so there is no specific age group for the screening, and once a young lady is sexual active pap smears should also be done.

Persons can make appointments, but walk-ins are also accepted.
