Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Valley, Honourable Colin McIntyre, has shot down claims by critics of the project that a re injection well was drilled under the Boiling Lake as part of the geothermal project.

Mr. McIntyre says amidst such false allegations, the Geothermal Project is progressing satisfactorily.

He also added that, the Government has invested heavily in the project for the future of Dominica for lower electricity rates.

“We are a progressive Government that looks after the needs of our people and our interest is solely to create a better life for our people, as our people have voiced their concerns to us about the cost of energy and the cost of living which we are working on addressing such problems,” Mr. McIntyre explained.

He said the residents of the Roseau Valley must be mindful of the alarms that are being created by critics of the Geothermal Project, adding that the public needs to educate themselves, so they will be able to decipher fact from fiction about the Geothermal Project.

The Minister noted, Dominica belongs to Dominicans, and the Government will do whatever it takes to harvest clean renewable energy for its citizens, and the answer is in the form of Geothermal Energy.

“I am in agreement with anything that we have to do in terms of preserving Dominica as we have done, but we are not going to stand in the way whereby we are trying to harvest energy we have here in abundance to help develop Dominica,” the Minister noted.
