Giraudel and Eggleston to Host Festival

footage (3)Dominicans are being invited to the twin communities of Giraudel and Eggleston, as these villages is the location of the first annual Eggleston Heritage Festival 2013.

This open invitation was from Coordinator of the Eggleston Heritage Festival, Ms. Shirley Alexander, who noted the Festival is being planned for Saturday August 3rd to Monday 5th August 2013 – the August Monday Weekend.

Leading up to the festival, there are a number of activities planned for the month of July.

Proceeds made by the Committee will go towards community development activities, since they hope to host the event annually.

The first donations will go towards a lunch shelter project at the Giraudel Primary School, and upgrading of the playing field and pavilion at Gladdis Park in Eggleston.

Part of the Festival will include an ‘Eggleston Got Talent Show,’ scheduled for Sunday July 14th at Lily’s Disco from 2pm. This show will feature Elisha Benoit, Ruth Augustine, Carlene Xavier of Fanatik Band and Xcess Groove.

footage (1)Self and community enhancement projects including a Summer Day Camp Projects with the Youth Development Division and the Drug Education Unit, a Fun Day, Pageant, Traditional J’ouvert Street Jam, Landscaping/Beatification Projects among others will be done prior to/during the three day event.

The Festival will be held in collaboration with the Cultural Division as part of the Emancipation Celebration Program.
