Girls Symposium

Dominica National Council of Women, Bureau of Gender Affairs, Dominica National Youth Council and Dominica planned parenthood Association present international women’s day celebrations better known as “a night of creative expression” at the Arawak House of Culture on Thursday 8th March 2012 at 6:00pm.


At the official ceremony, Director Bureau of Gender Affairs Ms. Rosie Brown says this is the moment to celebrate the attributes and achievements of women not only in Dominica, but all over the world. Ms. Browne alleged that she spoke to students from different schools, and they were open about their personal issues.


According to Ms. Browne, women have come a long way despite their struggles abuse of every sort, and the suffering they have experienced. She says, women can make a difference by getting involved and making sue that their voices are being heard.


There are many women unemployed, homeless, abused and mistreated and today, Ms.Browne shows her appreciation.


Parliamentary Representative of Roseau central, Hon. Norris Prevost believes women are strong leaders, and they can work together to remove our country from problems economically and socially.


Mr. Prevost invites women to come forward and take up their positions. General Secretary, Ms. Allana Rock says women require a balance within their selves to really be successful. Ms. Rock says, women need to choose wisely as to what values will benefit them.


Ms. Rock says, girls do not become women over night. Mothers have a huge impact on the upbringing of their children.
