Goodwill Secondary Wins Africa Cuisine Competition
The Goodwill Secondary School (GSS), has emerged as the winner of the inaugural Africa Cuisine competition held on Friday May 23rd 2014.
The competition was organized by the National Youth Council of Dominica(NYCD) in collaboration with the 4-H Club.
Jahisiah Benoit, President of the National Youth Council said, the event was in an effort to get stakeholders involved in the activities of Africa Week.
Only three 4-H Clubs participated in the competition.
The winners, Goodwill Secondary won a prize of $100.00, The Isaiah Thomas Secondary who placed 2nd won $75.00, and the Dominica Grammar School who placed 3rd won $50.00.
Each school was required to prepare one African dish for display; a recipe card and a description of the cultural background of the dish they prepared.
Meanwhile, National 4-H Coordinator, Shirley Alexander, wished more persons had participated, however they sent the invitation to participate at short notice.
She hopes that participation will be on a much larger scale for 2015.
She added, the 4-H Club members worked with their Home Economics teachers at their schools to create their African dishes.
