Government Donates $500,000 to Cathedral Restoration Project

The Cathedral Restoration Project received a significant boost on Wednesday June 4th 2014, as Prime Minister Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit donated EC $500,000 to the cause.

The project which began in 2012, is estimated to cost EC $8-million.

Prime Minister Skerrit noted, as the Lord continues to provide for the state where the state can assist further the state will try to assist.

He stated, Dominica has been affected by the global and economic crisis, but by the grace of God the Government has been able to manage and continue to do many things for the country and for citizens of this country during these trying times.

Bishop of Roseau, His Lordship Gabriel Malzaire, thanked the government for the cash donation towards the project.

Bishop Malzaire added, the funds will assist the project significantly.

He said close to $5-million has already been raised leaving the balance at $3-million.

Project engineer Wendell Lawrence stated that the renovation which was scheduled to be completed in three years may proceed for another two to three years depending on the inflow of funds.
