Government holds a one-day consultation on the Draft Regional Digital Development Strategy
The Ministry of Information, Telecommunications and Constituency Empowerment in collaboration with the Caricom Secretariat convened a consultation on the Draft Regional Digital Development Strategy at the Fort Young Hotel today, Monday March 21st, 2011.
The consultation which began at 9:00pm and culminated at 4:00pm was aimed at placing emphasis on key sectoral strategies, especially the key pillars of economic growth and development.
It was also geared at addressing ICT cross cutting themes as it relates to Tourism, Health Care Services, and Education among other sectors and was intended to receive input from representatives of all key sectors and other stakeholders.
Director of Telecoms in the Ministry of Information, Telecommunications and Constituency Empowerment Mr. Sylvester Cadette described the consultation as timely.
Representative from the Caricom Secretariat says one of the main goals of the consultation is making citizens aware of the Draft Strategy and its relevance to advancing the CSME as well as other regional initiatives.
Minister of Information, Telecommunications and Constituency Empowerment Honourable Ambrose George encouraged the participants to provide genuine feedbacks and recommendations at the end of the consultation.
This he says will contribute to the implementation plan which will be presented to the various heads of Government.
