Greenhouse Training Workshop
A Greenhouse Training Workshop which started yesterday was continued today, Thursday 28th October, 2010 at the Public Service Union Building. Five associations namely the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI) , Florida Association of Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas (FAVACA), the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MOAF) and the National Association for Youths in Agriculture (NAYA) came together in order to make this workshop a success. The workshop was geared in training to enhance and improve Dominica’s overall agricultural productivity by optimizing the use of technology in greenhouse agriculture. Dr. Kimberly Moore, from the University of Florida, expounded on some of the topics that were covered at the workshop.
Special emphasis was placed on how the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry could interest young persons into becoming involved in the programme and the development of agriculture on a whole. Delroy Williams, the President of the National Association for Youths in Agriculture (NAYA) said that he is quite eager to partner with such associations, furthermore, presenting opportunities for agricultural involvement of the youth.
