“Halibut” Wins NCCU 2013 Cadence Lypso Competition
Mr. Cletus Joseph Abraham, also known as “Halibut,” emerged victorious, following the staging of the 2013 National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU) Cadence Lypso Competition, on Saturday October 19th, at the Newtown Savannah.
Mr. Abraham, who resides in the community of Mahaut, sang “De Long Tongue” with a very impressive performance, to capture the title amidst 19 competitors, winning $15,000 cash.
The crowd was certainly entertained by Mr. Abraham’s truly energetic performance.
According to Mr. Abraham, Cadence music is the first electronic music in Dominica, which truly had the potential to survive the test of time.
He said, although there are many other types of music, Cadence is the main music alive in Dominica.
Second place was Shirley Charles also known as ‘Lady S’ of Morne Prosper, singing “Let me Love You,” and won $5,000.
Last year’s winner Mr. Webster Marie also known as ‘De Webb’ placed third and secured a prize of $2500.
