Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit describes a donation to Venezuela as a form of humanitarian support
Flood victims in Venezuela are expected to benefit from a very generous donation that was contributed by Dominicans, through the embassy of The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Petro Caribe Dominica ltd.
The items were handed over at an official ceremony on Saturday December 11th 2010 outside the premises of the embassy.
Among the many items donated were water, toiletries, milk and other essential items.
Prime Minister of Dominica, Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit says this contribution demonstrates a strong and keen relationship between the two countries as he described the donation as a form of humanitarian support to Venezuela.
He also extended his deepest condolences and sympathies to the flood victims in Venezuela and added that he would not have been able to sleep well within the comfort of his home knowing that Dominica did not do all in its power to help Venezuela.
He said, “Venezuela has been and continues to be a friend to the people of Dominica and it is mandatory that we donate something even if we would have had to borrow from the bank.”
Venezuelan ambassador, Her Excellency Carmen Martinez De Grijalva says the donation to the flood victims in Venezuela marked a very special moment.
