ITSS Leaders in Agricultural Science
Although Agricultural subjects are fairly new to most schools on the island, students at ITSS have taken well to the introduction of the subject and the school has thrived as an institution.
This is according to Brendon Roberts, Agricultural Science teacher at the institution.
The students at the Isaiah Secondary School have shown response and willingness to be connected to their food systems with the prospect of income generation and self-employment, Roberts said.
Earlier this month Fine Foods Inc contributed a Green House valued at $19,000 to the school’s agricultural programme.
Roberts said this donation will go a long way in supporting the enhancement of the programme which was needed to enhance and model agricultural learning at secondary schools.
The Green House is expected to be erected sometime during the Summer for utilization by the fourth and fifth form students.
This will allow them to practice hands on learning of theoretical material both on a local and global scale.
