Jinja Pre-School Celebrates Transition Month
The Jinja Pre-School, with its motto: “Partnering for further Progress in Early Childhood Development”, opened its doors to a grand exhibition for Transition Month, on May 3rd.
In an address, to the students at the Jinja Pre-School, Honourable Ambrose George, spoke on the importance of early childhood education.
He said the Government of Dominica has put certain measures in place, to ensure that every child receives a Pre- School education, irrespective of social standing and affordability.
He said the foundation of early childhood education is important and as a society we should adhere to it.
Ms. Leslassa Armour–Shillingford, Carnival Queen 2013, also emphasized on the significance of education in the lives of children.
She said early childhood education is key as it sets the foundation for future progress into Primary and Secondary Schools.
“If you can read you can do anything you want to do”, this was Ms. Armour- Shillingford’s favorite quote which she shared with the students.
The exhibition consisted of arts and projects that the students made throughout the school year.
Transition month is celebrated annually, observing the progress of students from one level of education to another.
The Newtown Primary Dance Group also performed at the event.
