Kavem Hodge, Shane Shillingford and Pearl Ettiene being recognized for their cricket achievements
The Dominica Cricket Association (DCA) held a recognition ceremony last night, September 21st 2010 at the Windsor Park sports Stadium in honor of three Dominican cricketers, Pearl Ettiene, Kavem Hodge and Shane Shillingford for their commendable achievements in the field of cricket. Coach of the National Women’s Team, Sharon Gregoire said that she is very much aware of the many challenges that the cricketers have been faced with as she to has been faced with the same if not, similar challenges.
She said, “you have won the battle but now is time to win the war. You have made everyone proud so this is your time to make yourself proud. To achieve this, one must posses three characteristics which is being humble, disciplined and a good attitude.
President of the Dominica Cricket Association, Mr Emmanuel Nanthan told the gathering that he sees great potential in Dominican Cricketers especially those of the Dominica Women’s Cricket Team. He added that he is working vigorously in ensuring that the future of the Dominica’s Women Cricket is sustained. Honourable Justina Charles, Minister for Culture, Youth and Sports also told the cricketers that they are now considered as role models by many young individuals in Dominica and urged them to use their role model status in a positive way.
Kavem Hodge and Pearl Ettiene also expressed gratitude to everyone who has contributed to their success in one way or the other.
