Lady B has been included in the Quarter finals line-up

One female calypsonian Beryl Samuel of Kingshill, better known as ‘Lady B’ has been included in the line-up for the 2011 quarter finals round of the Calypso Monarch Competition, after three other calypsonians dropped out from the competition.

This disclosure was made by the Public Relations Officer of the Dominica Calypso Association Davidson Victor, just one day before the event.

Lady B who had previously expressed disappointed about not advancing to the quarter final round of the competition had publicly called on the Dominica Calypso Association Committee to include her in the list of twelve (12).

The female calypsonian who has been in the calypso arena for approximately eleven (11) years sang about the issue of sexual abuse that is plaguing the society at the 2011 calypso eliminations held at Krazy Koconuts on Sunday January 09th, 2011.

But while the song was loved by many, having attracted the biggest crowd response, it had initially failed to earn ‘Lady B’ a position in the quarter finals.

She will now join theKing Dice, Val ‘Young Bull’ Cuffy, Picky, Mighty Acre, Trendsetter, Explosion, Kendi, Third eye, Comforter, The Educator and Man Himself at tomorrow’s quarter finals competition.

The three calypsonians who dropped out of the competition are Dutchess, Yakima and Scrunter, thereby making way for not only Lady B, but Royette and De Rose.

The competition which is scheduled to be held at the Newtown Savannah is expected to commence at 8:30pm.

Twenty (20) out of the thirty-two (32) competitors will be selected to advance to semi finals which will be held on February 19th, 2011.
