Launch of National role model program
The Dominica Olympic committee in collaboration with the national youth council of Dominica has officially launched a new youth mentoring program called the national youth role model program.
Mr. Thomas Dorset, the secretary general of the Dominica Olympic committee said that they recognized a need for mentorship for youth in Dominica as it is an area that is lacking support in Dominica.
The program is made up of proposed youth role models and administrators from 12 districts in Dominica.
The establishment of this program aims to develop the youth under the theme: propagating the doctrine of the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
President of the doc, Mr. John Charles says that the program will provide several benefits to the young people of Dominica in particular the athletes.
The national role model program is supported by funding by the international Olympic committee and is the first of its kind.
The young person’s participating in the program will receive training that will help in making them better citizens and also possible mentors.
The proposed youth models and district administrators were introduced to the public and presented with guidelines to the program.
