LifeTime Awards Given to Four Dominicans
Four Dominicans received the LifeTime Award for their significant contribution to the development of Labour-Management relations in Dominica.
The awards were presented by the Dominica Employers Federation (DEF), at a ceremony on Tuesday November 6th, 2012.
President of the DEF, Mr. Clement Montgomery Carty, says some of the objectives of the federation are to interpret labour laws and the lobbying of policy makers.
In recent times training has been the number one issue for employers and the federation has developed impact courses targeting particular gaps in the training courses out there and hands on skills.
Dr. Eisenhower Douglas, who represents the Ministry of Employment, Trade Industry and Diaspora Affairs, says in Dominica there are many agencies that deal with imports and exports, and these have great implications for employment.
He says that employees should take every opportunity to broaden their skills so that they have a fighting chance in this face paced world that we live in today.
The four persons being honoured were Mrs. Shirley A. Guye, Mrs. Audrey Thomas, Mr. Cecil A. Burton and Mr. Ensley L. Pierre.
The LifeTime Awards were presented by the President of Dominica, His Excellency Eliud T. Williams.
