LIME LA Stars Advanced to the semifinal round
In their quarter final encounter on Thursday evening at the Bath Estate playing field, LA Stars defeated Harlem United by five goals to four on penalty kicks, for a seven goals to six aggregate lead after the match ended two goals all at the end of regulation time.
Harlem, who topped their group, went into the lead when veteran player and former national player, Peter Greenaway converted midway through the first half.
LA Stars found the equalizer through Ridge Blaize, who converted when his right footer found the back of the net, beating the Harlem custodian to his right, thus leveling the encounter heading into the interval.
In the second half of play, both teams hustled for the advantage, however, it was Jalon Matthew who gave his team the lead as he capitalized on a defensive blunder.
With about ten minutes left in the encounter, Jeffrey Durand received a nice through ball and made no mistake, as his powerful right footer hit the upright and crossed the line, leaving the La Stars custodian with no chance of making a save.
LA Stars netted all the five penalties while Harlem converted four out of their five spot kicks.
Al James was the player who missed the penalty kick for Harlem.
When the quarter final match up continues on Saturday, Exodus FC will do battle against DASPA Potters from 6pm at the Bath Estate playing field.
