Local Artiste Charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving
One young man, who found himself in serious trouble, will have to wait until October 10th 2013 for his trial to begin.
Portsmouth resident and member of a local band C.H.O.E.B, Bertist Jeffers who appeared before Roseau Magistrate Ossie Lewis on Friday July 5th, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
It is alleged, Jeffers was the driver of a Mercedes Benz truck registration number AA052 which killed 18 year old Shane Victor in Salisbury on May 14th 2013.
Victor, who was sitting in the open back of a pick-up truck, was thrown of the vehicle upon impact onto a wall on the western side of the road in Salisbury.
He sustained multiple injuries and was subsequently transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital Accident and Emergency Department where he was pronounced dead.
He was granted bail in the sum of $50,000.00 by his father Bertie Jeffers.
As part of his bail conditions, he is to report to the Portsmouth Police Station on Monday’s and Friday’s between 7am to 7pm.
