Local Gospel Group Releases New Cd

Members of J-Squad, Vanley Joseph and Clarita Lugay

One young Gospel group is on a mission to transform the young and on a wider scale the Dominican public one song at a time.

The Jesus Squad group (J-Squad) which comprises of three young ladies, sisters Clarita and Kimara Lugay and Anessa Francis from Roseau has just released a 4 track Gospel CD, which they hope will motivate people to pay more attention to God no matter who they are.

Founder of J-Squad Mr. Vanley Joseph says some of the songs are titled, “Giving thanks,” “Big fish” and “He is waiting for you,” amongst others on the album titled “All the way with Jesus.”

Mr. Joseph, who writes all the songs, added that due to financial constraints their first album only has four songs; however they are currently working on the second with the hope of a ten track cd.

In writing the songs it sometimes takes a day if the ideas are flowing, however some take months to ensure they are done properly and make sense, says Mr. Joseph.

While writing the songs for this album he went through many trial and error phases as he was bent on getting all songs done to perfection.

Mr. Joseph also said that even in recording the songs in the studio, he had to make last minute changes so they were all just right, while stating it’s not an easy process but can be done as he enjoys doing work for Jesus.

When asked if he thinks there should be a greater appreciation for Gospel music in Dominica his response was that this is what J-Squad is on a mission to accomplish.

Parents should all monitor the music that their children listen to which is very important, as there are many songs which are detrimental to the minds of the youth which pollutes them.

Clarita Lugay who is one of the singers in the group says they all get along very well doing God’s work, and it is not hard to sing the Gospel songs that they do.

Ms. Lugay says  at times have had to leave her friends, some of which go above and beyond in negative activities who don’t listen to her positive advice most of the times.

She would like people to appreciate their Gospel CD especially as it was done by young people and is all positive music.

People wishing to get a copy of the cd can call Mr. Joseph on 440-6911.
