Local Government Month celebrations dubbed a success
Minister of Social Services and Community Development, Honourable Gloria Shillingford is describing activities which marked local government during the month of May as successful. Last month, various activities were held throughout the island, all of which were aimed at fostering heightened awareness of the benefits of governance at the local level, as well as rekindling new interest and enthusiasm among existing local government systems. While looking back at the months’ activities, Mrs. Shillingford appealed to the various village councils to continue to play their role in improving the quality of life of their villagers by maintaining a clean environment, protecting and preserving their resources and fostering harmony within their communities. The activities which ran from May 01st – 31st, 2010 were held under the theme ‘Building Community leadership for good governance’.
