Marigot Carnival Officially Opened
The Marigot Community opened their carnival in grand style on Saturday 2nd 2013, as Flag wavers in their bold colors lead the parade.
Carnival lovers lined the streets in an attempt to be part of the festivities taking place.
The Queen Contestants participating in the Miss Marigot Ambassadorial and Princesses of the Atkinson Primary school graced the parade with beauty, colors and style on their various floats.
One of the bands called Kalinago Fantasy was a vibrant group which sang to the top of their lungs along with the drums of the lapo kabwit right behind them.
Dressed in their costumes hand made from straws, beads and other materials and painted body they were a unique group in the parade.
The Parliamentary representative for the Marigot Constituency Mr. Eddison James also came out to give support to his community.
Mr. James commended the people from Marigot as well as neighboring communities for supporting the parade. He hopes that the parade be a peaceful and enjoyable one.
He further went on to say that Marigot has always contributed to carnival, not only locally but internationally.
This year was considered to be a better organized and more improved parade than those in recent years.
