May Fest Celebrations
An ecumenical service took place on Sunday morning followed by a local band splash that presented local bands and artists from around the island which included Asah Bantan and the WCK band.
Not only was there musical entertainment at the festival, there were other events such as May fest Miss North East queen show and a breadfruit festival.
May fest winner 2012 Ms. Shanice Edwards from the village of Castle Bruce says she was breath taken to be crowned as Ms. May fest 2012 and this did not come as a surprise to her friends and family.
President of Marigot Development Cooperation Mr. Michael Pascal says every year the weather is usually a problem however; this year’s weather was exceptionally good.
Mr. Pascal indicated that terms of the breadfruit competition, last year was enhanced seeing that it was difficult to find breadfruits this year.
Organizer of the event Mr. Alvin Alexander believes this year’s May Fest was interesting due to the bands and the creative activities.
Mr. Alexander says the Marigot Development Cooperation over the years has been putting together the May festival and this has been four nights of exciting activities.
Calypsonian Soul puss says this year’s festival was better and developed.
Members of the New Age Citizens Mr. Joel Carbon and Jason Azile says that they are trying to uplift Dominica in a positive way.
