Father Cuffy noted although the Calypsonian had some fierce competition, they believed his song spoke more about ails in society and by extension the religious community.
President of the Dominica National Youth Council (DNYC), Mr. Jahisiah Benoit says it speaks well of Dominica that there were so many calypso songs to choose from.
“We had a broad spectrum of calypsonians to consider and I think that speaks well for us as Dominicans that so many of our calypsonians are in tune with this social ail”, he said.
The Calypsonian he said was deserving of the award not only for singing it but for composing the lyrics.
Mr. Casimir, whose vision is partially impared, received one thousand dollars in addition to the award.
