According to the Minister of Education, Mr. Petter St. Jean

According to the Minister of Education, Mr. Petter St. Jean, there has been a lack of performance in students from the La Plaine zone. He thinks this could be the result of the long distance route that the students take every day to school.

Mr. St. Jean added, that over the past few years, his Ministry has been examining and investigating the performance of students nationally on the grade 6 assessment exams as well as the grade 2 and 4 exams.

They have also monitored the students’ performance in various secondary schools.

The Minister believes this will bring the students much closer to their communities.

He also wants to make it clear, that he is referring to students from the La Plaine area, and not just La Plaine.

Students of Morne Jaune, Grandford and Riviere Cyrique have already been moved to the Castle Bruce Secondary School and this year, the Ministry is concentrating on the La Plaine/ Delice’s area.

Mr. Petter St. Jean says the La Plaine Village students are already registered at the Castle Bruce Secondary School and it is automatic that they will be attending that School.
