Minister of Tourism proposes the initiation of a WNTP Challenge Trophy

Minister of Tourism and Legal Affairs, Honourable Ian Douglas believes that the Fourteen (14) Segments of the Waitikubuli National Trail Project have the potential to place Dominica on the world scene, like none of the islands’ other natural attributes has done.

Mr. Douglas made this statement at the Official Launching Ceremony of Kairi FM’s Walk and Smile, right here at SAT Telecommunications Ltd on Thursday September 16th, 2010.

The Minister proposed the initiation of a Waitikubuli National Trail Project Challenge Trophy, in an effort to encourage persons to explore the various trails.

‘I am willing to collaborate with the WNTP to put aside funds for the implementation of the WNTP Challenge Trophy, which will be awarded to the winner who will then donate the funds to a charitable organization of his/her choice,’ explained Douglas.

Mr. Douglas urged the general public to participate in the walk which is scheduled to begin at the Morne Prosper Primary School and end at the Valley of Desolation, on Sunday October 10th, 2010.

‘I am encouraging all business Houses especially the Ministry of Health and Tourism along with Discover Dominica Authority to embrace this opportunity to get to know the trail, as it will be of a great advantage to know the product that we are marketing,’ he said.
