Ministry of National Security’s Permanent Secretary Speaks on New Ambulances donated to Dominica’s Fire and Ambulance Services
Following the Handing over Ceremony of two new ambulances, which took place on Thursday July 11th, Ministry of National Security’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Steve Hyacinth, says these new vehicles should be used for the execution of duties with a high level of efficiency and effectiveness.
“What you do with these two additional ambulances, how you treat them and how you use them, will demonstrate how much pride and honor you place in your profession” he said.
Mr. Hyacinth noted, the remarkable responsibility that firefighting entails is to save lives by transporting the injured or sick to and from their homes as well as health facilities regardless of their residence.
The first paragraph of a firefighter’s prayer states, “When I am called to duty Lord, wherever flames may rage, give me the strength to save some lives, whatever be its age.”
Mr. Hyacinth says what he gathers from this paragraph, is that whenever a fire occurs, fire fighters should instantly develop the mentality to save lives and property.
He believes respect goes a long a way; how one treats and work with each other can determine how successful and smoothly an organization will progress.
