Miss NCCU is the 2011 carnival queen

Miss National Cooperative Credit Union, 23-year old Jacintha Fagan of Checkhall, was crowned Miss Dominica 2011, at the carnival city, last week Saturday.

 

Jacintha, who captured the awards for miss photogenic and best in evening wear emerged as the overall winner from a field of six other contestants.

 

The first runner-up award went to Earlene Labassiere, sponsored by Malcolm Stephens and Sons Ltd, who copped the awards for best in swim wear and best evening wear.

 

The second runner-up award went to Roselia Bazil, sponsored by Petrocaribe.

 

Miss LIME/DFC Cornillia Hazel received the miss amity award while miss Waitukubuli National Trail Michelle Joseph received the awards for best talent and best question and answer and Miss Courts Dominica Ltd & Sub Zero Nasha Faustin walked away with the awards for best costume and best in costume.

 

The other contestant who failed to receive any awards was Ruth Augustine, who was sponsored by LIME/DFC and National Pest and Termite Control.

 

Moments after the crowning, Miss Fagan said that ‘nothing comes easy’, and all along she remained determined to win the crown.

 

Fagan, who is a graduate of the convent high school and the Dominica State College, is currently a lab assistant at Dominica Brewery and Beverages Ltd.

 

The show was spearheaded by the Dominica Festivals Committee and organized by the queen show committee.
