Mothers Queen Prize Giving
Contestants of the 2014 Carnival Mother’s Queen Show recently received their awards and prizes for their overall participation and support of the event.
Secretary/Treasurer of the Carnival Mother’s Queen Show Committee, Claudine Charles said after reviewing the impact of last year’s show they decided to host the activity for the second time.
The aim of the show she stated is “to portray the traditional costume of our country, to highlight the talents of the mothers, to assist the mothers in building on their self-esteem and confidence in themselves and to continue to contribute to the Carnival industry in Dominica”.
Reigning Carnival Mother’s Queen Headtha Vidal, 38, of Portsmouth received an undisclosed cash prize from the National Bank of Dominica (NBD) for best traditional wear along with a gift voucher of $200.00 from HHV Whitchurch and gifts from Joan’s Braiding Store and J.E Nassief.
Vidal walked away with the awards for Miss Intelligence, Best Talent and Best Traditional Ole Masquerade.
All the ladies received a cash prize along with gifts from the Mother’s Queen Show Committee and other sponsors.
In addition, first runner up Patricia Charles of Grand Bay received a mobile phone compliments LIME, second runner up Tarickh Joseph a night for two at Fort Young Hotel, while third runner up Cecilia Henderson received gifts from Joan Braiding Store, J.E Nassief and Josephine and Gabriel.
Other participants receiving prizes included Ezra George, Vanessa Louisy, Terissa Bruno and Jasmine Joseph .
