NECS Welcomes Commonwealth Games Queen’s Relay Baton

The students of the N.E.C.S – North East Comprehensive High School were all smiles on the morning of Wednesday March 19th 2014, as they welcomed the 2014, Glasgow Commonwealth games Queen’s Relay Baton.

The school was the first stop on the baton’s journey across Dominica.

During a ceremony held at the school, the Commonwealth Games Federation Representative, Mrs. Fortuna Belrose introduced the staff and students to the team accompanying the baton.

The following day, on Thursday March 20th, the baton made a number of stops around the city of Roseau, including to the Office of his Excellency Charles Savarin, President of Dominica.

It was then transported to the Dominica Community High School, where the relay began making stops to a number of schools in the City including, the Orion Academy, the Dominica Grammar School, the Convent High School, the St. Mary’s Academy, the Wesley High School and the Goodwill Secondary School.

The relay came to an end at the office of the Mayor of Roseau, Her Worship Irene John.
