New Cosmetologists on Their Way

The National Development Foundation of Dominica (NDFD) Limited in collaboration with the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) presented its graduation ceremony for their 6 week cosmetology training program on Friday, January 25th.

Executive Director of NDFD Mr. Ronald Knight, says this has been a life changing training experience for the participants. Mr. Knight strongly believes they have been tooled with skills to change their lives, make a difference in their family lives and will one day, create employment for someone else.

He explained to the graduates that they should never take short-cuts in life neither should they squander their money.

They were all advised to invest their money into their businesses or themselves.

The project overview stated that this training was submitted by NDFD to the BNTF, and was funded by the Government of Dominica as well as the Caribbean Development Bank (CCDM).


Minister for Social Services, Honorable Gloria Shillingford

The Purpose of the training is to equip the participants on formal knowledge and skills therefore; they will be better able to secure employment or to start their own businesses.

Minister for Social Services Honorable Gloria Shillingford, says she is extremely pleased because this is the first closing ceremony for the Pilot Programmes, which the Ministry has mandated to implement in the communities of St. Joseph and Silverlake.

Ms. Shillingford expressed gratitude to NDFD and BNTF, for their collaboration in implementing this costemology program.

She says personally, she is extremely proud of the participants for sticking through the entire 6 week training program but was disappointed that mostly women participated.
