The Organization of American States (OAS), with the financial support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), has organized a National Tourism Training Workshop for owners and operators of small hotels in Dominica, from April 2nd-3rd, 2013.

The workshop is expected to focus on improving service quality.

This is the first ever workshop in a series of such events in the countries of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), and is
facilitated by Shirlene A. Nibbs, who is also a Tourism Specialist.

The theme of the workshop is “Achieving Service and Business Excellence for Small Hotels,” and it will focus on training standards, branding and marketing.

The sessions will offer a detailed look at the role and importance of training for small hotels as well as specific marketing strategies.

Ms. Nibbs believe that the workshop will provide opportunities for owners and operators to access new information on service quality, the culture of hospitality and marketing.

This initiative is part of the OAS’ Sustainable Tourism Program for 2013 under the sponsorships of the Small Tourism Enterprise Network (STEN). A project that focuses on improving the affordability of small and medium sized tourism enterprises.
