Occupational Therapy Open House
The Government along with the Community Mental Health Team held an occupational therapy open house on Tuesday, October 9th, where Occupational Therapist Ms. Maoko Abe was commended for her tremendous contributions.
Ms. Abe stated that the main purpose for the open house is to create a formal introduction of occupational therapy for the young generation in Dominica.
She mentioned that she worked with three occupational therapists and each of them worked very well and were very motivated.
Ms. Abe’s assignment will be completed in a month which she is saddened about. She says everyone was welcoming and patient despite her poor “English”.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health Ms. Helen Royer noted that occupational therapy is a relatively new programme, and the full support of the Ministry of Health.
She says that without the help of the Japanese Government the programme would not have been possible.
Ms. Royer stated that the patients need to be commended for all the work they have done, and the Ministry of Health fully supports this new programme.
