What would usually take place at the studios of Dominica Broadcasting Station (DBS) radio was moved to the Roman Catholic Centre in Portsmouth on the night of Friday December 13th.

The famous ‘On the Beat’ programme which speaks on curbing criminal activity and deviant behviour on the Island was hosted live at the vicinity.

The programme was held at Portsmouth in light of the recent murders that occurred in November.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Claude Weekes stressed that it is a time to say no to crime and deviant behavior and to break the culture of silence.

, Superintendent Ainsworth Irish highlighted that we tend to put material things before God, a factor he feels contributes to increased criminal activity.

Mr. Irish believes that if we want to improve the quality of our lives we have to stem the unwanted evil.

Adding to the discussion, Pastor Randy Rodney from the Interdenominational Community says criminals plan what they are doing before they do it from the research that he has completed.

Also on the panel was Mayor of Portsmouth, Mr. Cleave St. Jean and Ms. Caesarina Paul, a former Youth Development Officer.
