One Biker is Raising Awareness to Save Children’s Lives
One young man is trying to make a difference in children’s lives.
21 year old Okan La Fleur of Loubiere is organizing a bike rally which he hopes will raise awareness of heart diseases on the Island, and also raise funds for the Child Heart Fund.
Mr. La Fleur mentioned that not long ago he remembered a young girl dying from a heart condition, and that while attending a recent festival he noticed there were lots of bikes parked there.
He decided to merge the two.
He says the response from the public is overwhelmingly positive and he is grateful for that because his intentions are pure.
The rally/ ride is carded for December 2nd, 2012, from the Bayfront to Mero.
The registration fee is $10 and 100 percent of the proceedings will go to the Child Heart Fund.
He tells young people that there is no reason why they should not attempt to do what he is trying to do.
Mr. la Fleur has not received any sponsors for the event yet, but he is hoping that those who are now aware will do whatever they can to help the cause.
You can register for the bike race at CATS Internet Café on 84 Independence Street in Roseau or call 616-2218.
