One man sentenced to nine months imprisonment for ‘slashing’ a man’s face and neck


Stafford Toussaint of Good Hope was sentenced to nine months in prison after Chief Magistrate Evelina Baptiste found him guilty of wounding and possession of an offensive weapon. Toussaint appeared before the Roseau magistrate court on September 6th, 2010 where he pleaded guilty to both charges and not guilty to disorderly conduct. According to the facts of the case, during an altercation at Good Hope on September 2nd, the complainant stepped up to Toussaint saying that “when you see you buy your ‘weed’ do not say is me that give it to.” Toussaint cursed out the complainant who immediately ran outside to fetch himself a stick and kept on threatening Toussaint’s life as he pointed the stick at him. Toussaint retrieved his wooden handle cutlass and injured the complainant’s left side of his neck and face after which they both conducted a WWE wrestling match in the shop of a resident
