A new bridge constructed between the riverbank of the Roseau market and Portersville was officially opened on February 2nd.

Named the Dominica/ China bridge, it is the fourth bridge providing access to the capital city of Roseau.

Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit says that this bridge provides Dominica with development as a nation as it will aid by increasing ease of access to and from the city avoiding congestion and heightening the speed of communication.

In addition he said that the west coast road shall be named the Edward Oliver Leblanc highway who was responsible for the construction of the west coast road.

His Excellency Wong Zanglai the Chinese ambassador gave details on the functions and features of the bridge at the opening ceremony.

Dispelling discomfort on the issue of the statues at either side of the bridge minister for public works Rayburn Blackmore says that they are symbols of strength and said it was a mark of the relationship between the countries.

The bridge spans 67 meters and 10.5 meters in width and can be used both for entrance and exit from the city.
