“Oral Health – the Gateway to General Health.”

footage (1)A week of activities planned for Oral Health Week will come to a close on Friday October 11th with a prize giving ceremony.

Chief Dental Officer, Dr. Idaline John, says this prize giving ceremony is to reward the participants of their essay competition, who wrote on the topic, “Oral Health – the Gateway to General Health.”

This competition was open to primary schools Island-Wide.

The award for first prize is $400 and a gift, second place is $300 and the third place is $200.

Schools will receive a plaque for participation in the competition.

The public is advised to visit their dentist for annual checkups, rather than neglect their teeth, a vital part of the human body.

The Government service provides normal teeth cleaning, free for children and senior citizens 60 and over and at a cost of $20 for adults.

The whitening of teeth however, is not included.

The final activity on the cards, as part of Oral Health Week, is National Fruit Day to be observed on Friday October 11th.
