Over one hundred and fifty taxi drivers graduate from a four-day training
One hundred and fifty (150) taxi drivers have completed a four-day training program designed to provide certified tourism taxi operators and drivers particularly in the cruise ship industry, with additional knowledge towards improving the quality of service that they provide to visitors.
Topics covered during the training included the Waitukubuli National Trail Project, the geography of Roseau, prostate health, basic first aid, conflict resolution and the parliamentary history of Dominica.
While addressing the closing ceremony, Minister of Tourism and Legal Affairs, Honorable Ian Douglas said that the role of each and every partner in the tourism business is critical to the industry, and taxi operators and drivers are no exception.
The Tourism Minister encouraged the drivers to continue developing strategies to improve the quality of service provided to both locals and visitors. He said that the Caribbean is now becoming a tourism niche and the competition lies in the level of customer service that they offer.
