Over twelve (12) Primary Schools participates in the NDPU’s annual song contest
Over twelve (12) Primary Schools on the island participated in the National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit annual song competition, which was held at the Public Service Union building on Friday December 3rd, 2010.
The participating schools were the Grand Fond, Campbell, Jones Beaupierre, Belles, Castle – Bruce, Giraudel, Morne Jaune, Mahaut, Colihaut, Massacre, Pioneer Preparatory and the St. Luke’s Primary School.
While welcoming the schools, Director of the National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit Jacinta Bannis says she is pleased that the competition which was expected to be held since in June has finally come to fruition.
She revealed the unit’s intention to compile a CD, containing all the songs that were sang at the competition, as she thanked the parents, teachers, and Ministry of Education for their efforts in making the event a success.
Meanwhile, Drug Abuse Prevention Officer for the East/South-east district says the unit is pleased with the positive response received from the various schools.
