Panel discussion for women in ICT

ICT_services_radio_waves_communication_computer_0.pngA panel discussion in relation to World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) under the theme “Women and Girls in ICT” and sub theme “A role for ICT in addressing issues facing women” was held on Tuesday May 15th.
Attorney-at-Law, specializes in governance, law and social development Mrs. Noreen John worked here in Dominica in the 1980s as a Development and Programme Officer with SPAT and also as a Research Consultant.

She is qualified in Law and Economics, she also holds Masters Degrees in Social Policy and Planning for Developing Countries from the London School of Economics and in International Affairs from Columbia University, New York.

Mrs. John believes women have a lot of potential and their gender should not limit what they can and cannot do.

Director of Business Training Center (BTC) Ms. Lucia Stedman says she has witnessed women who work in the information communication technology departments and believes that it is a fascinating position.

BTC is currently a recognized Testing Center for VUE, ICDL, MOS, and is currently negotiating to cater for ALL ICT certifications exams as a Prometric Testing Center

Ms. Steadman says she has many concerns about the amount of women involved in ICT in Dominica and their limitations.
