Panel discussion on crime
Speaking at a Panel discussion held under the theme ‘How crime and drugs destabilize the family and community.’ on Saturday 7th April, Mr. Weekes addressed the community of Campbell compelling them to become active opposers to crime and violence in Dominica.
Mr. Weekes went on to highlight the need to take responsibility for the protection of each other as a community and a country as the actions of one affects everyone around them.
In addition, guest speaker at the panel discussion, Pastor Felix St. Hilaire, says that to effectively curb crime and drug abuse the youth need to be actively involved in the opposition to crime in society.
The youth are not the same as those of previous generations he therefore noted that a new approach is necessary to attain their support in this fight against crime.
The Panel discussion was held as one of the activities of the Campbell village feast that was celebrated from April 6th to 8th under the theme of “Promoting our Community in Unity through Christ”.
